The hydrogen sulphide cracking spent acid plant (the “Plant”) EPC contracted by YDIC for TianAn Chemical Co. Phosphate

At 15:00pm on August 20th, 2018, the hydrogen sulphide cracking spent acid plant (the “Plant”) EPC contracted by YDIC for TianAn Chemical Co. Phosphate Fertilizer Manufacturing Center successfully passed the 72-hour performance test with 100% loading of both hydrogen sulphide and spent acid.

The Plant uses hydrogen sulphide acid gas coming from the 500 tk/a Synthetic ammonia plant of TianAn Chemical Co. and alkylation spent acid supplied by Yunnan Petrochemcial Co., Ltd. as the raw materials to generate sulphur dioxide gas which is purified and dehumidified and then sent to the Phase I and II 800 kt/a sulphuric acid plant to produce sulphuric acid.

Construction of the Plant commenced on July 17th, 2015 and was completed on July 30th, 2017. The initial hot commissioning with hydrogen sulphide was successfully started on September 18th, 2016. On November 4th, 2016, the Plant passed the 72-hour performance test under the operation condition of using only hydrogen sulphide gas.

Yunnan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. started to supply spent acid to TianAn Chemical Co. on November 7th, 2017, and the Plant has been in normal operation since then. To test the Plant’s production capacity using both hydrogen sulphide and spent acid, TianAn Chemical Co. decided to conduct the 72-hour performance test with 100% loading of both hydrogen sulphide and spent acid during the period of 15:00pm on August 17th to 15:00pm on August 20th, 2018. During the performance test period, the Plant processed hydrogen sulphide acid gas at 3,440 m3/hr and spent acid at 2 m3/hr, which was the first time full capacity production with 100% loading of both materials. With the successful completion of 72-hour performance test, the Plant is proved to have reached its design requirements in terms of all indexes. The Plant is formally put into normal production since 15:00pm on August 20th, 2018.
